Third Grade Spelling Homework Activities
This are some ideas to practice spelling words. It helps to use Spelling City on my page (see link below) or writing them multiple times, but these are different options to mix it up.
Activities:
- Read for 20 minutes daily. You can read anything, just read, I want them interested and able to read it on their own. Not too easy, not too hard.
- Practice spelling words daily. You can choose an activity from the list below to do each night. You can also practice on http://www.spellingcity.com/cahester/
- I will send home the Go Math extra practice page each night that went with our lesson, but it is not required that they do this.
- None of the homework needs to be turned in. It will be understood that they are to read and practice spelling each night.

- Write each word 3 times each.
- Write the definitions to each word on the list.
- Divide all of the words into syllables.
- Put the spelling words in ABC order.
- Write a sentence using each spelling word.
- Write your spelling words in order from longest to shortest and then shortest to longest.
- Illustrate each spelling word. Be sure to write the spelling word under each illustration.
- Write all of your spelling words using one color for consonants and another color for vowels.
- Take a practice test with parent
